Life's not easy sometimes, we can get tossed about end up feeling like we might have lost our way. Lucky for us, daily meditation, and the skilful mental states that it brings, is a simple and effective tool for helping us navigate choppy waters and truly appreciate the good times that happen in all the little moments throughout our day. This course helps you establish a daily meditation practice in a simple and lighthearted environment. The course starts at 8:00pm on May 13th and runs for six weeks. During the course, you will learn four core meditation techniques and understand how their use can impact your life. There will also be teachings and discussion on where meditation comes from, what the present moment actually is and why being there is helpful, physiology, neurology, wisdom, compassion, and how we can generate more skilful behaviour patterns. The course is accompanied by take-home material and written meditation instructions. Throughout the course, lessons are drawn from Buddhism, modern science, philosophy, indigenous knowledge systems and secular mindfulness. This creates a course that is holistic, easily accessible and aligned with our present-day lives. Meditation helps us to understand the layers of our lives - our thoughts, beliefs and behaviours - and allows us to know ourselves on a deeper and more harmonious level. To some, this can sound scary, especially if we have been pushing that side of us away for many years. Rest assured that these meditation techniques are a gentle way to start this process and they will encourage learnings to happen in timeframes that are best for you. ​ Everyone has their own reasons for learning meditation.
